Grosvenor Place’s smart design and the implementation of common-sense sustainable technologies work to deliver year-on-year energy and water reductions. With far-sighted environmental engineering woven into the fabric of Grosvenor Place, the building has been effectively designed with multiple advantages for minimising waste and conserving energy.

The co-owners of Grosvenor Place –  Arcadia and 151 Property have set themselves a challenge to outdo the building’s own excellent sustainability record and create a timeless contemporary icon in the Sydney commercial property market that honours Seidler’s original vision.

Rooftop Bees

Grosvenor Place is home to more than 60,000 honey producing bees. Creating sustainable environments for bees to flourish and continue their important pollination work benefits every living thing on earth – and the honey is pretty delicious.

LED Lighting

The LED technology used at Grosvenor Place sets a new lighting benchmark consuming less power with a much longer life, thereby reducing waste. The sensor controlled LED lighting conserves energy in unused rooms.  The building also houses Organic Response lighting controls. The controls are embedded in each light fitting and can be optimised for energy efficiency and occupancy comfort with a free smartphone app. This smartphone based user engagement platform empowers the tenant to adjust their work environment in response to the demands of the modern workplace.

Sunshades

A uniquely designed system of external shades is fixed with differing angles to intercept the changing angle of the sun’s rays around the tower. These external shades and the double glazed window units assist in reducing the demand for cooling in the tower. The external shades are also beneficial in eliminating sky glare, reducing the effect of heat and avoid the use of conventional blinds.

Thermal Storage

The building’s air conditioning relies on a thermal storage unit comprising eight large ice banks that use frozen water to provide cooling. This provides tenants with 100% thermal demand using off-peak power supply.

Grosvenor Place has a 6 star NABERS Waste Rating making it one of only three office precincts in Sydney who have received this rating. The building is ranked fifth nationally with an outstanding NABERS Certified Recycling Rate of 80%.

Solar Energy

PhotoVoltaic cells are installed on the rooftop of Grosvenor Place to generate renewable energy from the sun, making a total of 75KwH used in the common areas.
